How to use in-sentence of “motet”:
+ The 16th century composer Thomas Tallis wrote a motet called “Spem in alium” which is in 40 parts.
+ One of his best known shorter pieces is the motet “Panis Angelicus”, which was originally written for tenor solo, but is more often heard sung by a soprano or treble.
+ He had asked for his motet “Ave regina celorum” to be sung for him as he died, with pleas for mercy to be read between some of the movement movements, but there was not enough time for this to be arranged, so it was sung at his funeral instead.
+ In 1436 Dufay composed the festive motet “Nuper rosarum flores”, one of his most famous compositions, which was sung at the dedication of Brunelleschi’s dome of the cathedral in Florence.
+ The most famous motet from the Classical period is Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus”.
