Question: Do you think domestic violence is a growing problem in your country?

Sample Answer (The AREA technique):

Answer: Domestic violence is a serious and complex issue in many countries, including mine, and it requires a multi-faceted and sustained response from individuals, communities, and institutions.

Reason: Domestic violence can have severe and lasting effects on individuals and families, such as physical and emotional harm, trauma, loss of autonomy and dignity, and social isolation and stigma.

Example: For instance, if a woman experiences domestic violence from her partner, she may suffer from injuries, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder, and may face barriers in seeking help or leaving the relationship.

Alternative: Other factors that can contribute to domestic violence may include cultural and social norms that condone or minimize violence against women, lack of awareness and education on healthy relationships and conflict resolution, or inadequate legal and institutional frameworks to protect and support victims and survivors.
