VSTEP B1, B2, C1 Speaking Part 2: Solution Discussion

- Question:

The city is improving public transportation. Would you suggest more buses, improved train service, or building a tram line?

- Answer:

I would suggest improving train service. While all three options are beneficial, trains provide an efficient and fast method of transport that accommodates a large number of passengers at once.

More buses could potentially mean more routes and frequencies, but they still face issues like traffic congestion. A tram line could add charm and offer a steady service, but it requires extensive infrastructure changes and might not cover as broad an area.

In contrast, improving train service, such as expanding routes, increasing frequency, or modernizing facilities, can significantly enhance the capacity and efficiency of public transportation in the city. Trains, being less affected by road traffic, generally maintain better punctuality. Besides, investing in a cleaner, faster, and more reliable train service could encourage more people to use public transport, contributing to a reduction in traffic congestion and air pollution.

However, the effectiveness of this suggestion would be dependent on the existing transport infrastructure and the geography of the city. Regardless of the option chosen, accessibility, affordability, and convenience should be prioritized.
