VSTEP B1, B2, C1 Speaking Part 2: Solution Discussion

- Question:

You are planning a shopping trip. Where would you prefer to shop: at a mall, a local market, or online?

- Answer:

I would prefer shopping at a local market. Even though malls offer a one-stop shopping experience and online shopping provides convenience, the unique experience and benefits of a local market make it my top choice.

Local markets usually house a variety of unique, locally-made goods that are not easily found in large retail chains or online. This can lead to discovering unique items while supporting local businesses. Additionally, shopping at local markets can be a more engaging and socially enriching experience, as you can interact with the sellers, learn about the products, and immerse in the local culture.

On the other hand, while shopping in a mall provides many options under one roof, it can often be crowded and overwhelming. Online shopping, though convenient, lacks the ability to physically examine the products and can sometimes lead to disappointment when items do not meet expectations. Hence, for the unique finds, supporting local businesses, and the social interaction, a local market would be my preferred choice.
