VSTEP B1, B2, C1 Speaking Part 2: Solution Discussion

- Question:

Your local council has been allocated money to add one new entertainment facility to the community in your area. Decide which one you would choose. There are three options for you to choose: A sports centre, A park with a lake, or A children’s playground.

- Answer:

I would advocate for the establishment of a sports centre in our community. The primary reason being its potential to cater to individuals across all age brackets, unlike the children's playground that would predominantly benefit children. While parks with lakes provide opportunities for relaxation and can contribute to community aesthetics, they might not necessarily promote active engagement among residents, which is crucial in our increasingly sedentary lifestyles.

A sports centre would foster both physical and mental well-being, encouraging residents to engage in a multitude of sporting activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and fostering a sense of community spirit through team sports. Furthermore, it could potentially stimulate local economy by attracting sports-related events and tournaments.

Whilst all three facilities have their merits, the sports centre's multifaceted advantages stand out in terms of inclusivity, promotion of health, and potential economic benefits, making it the most effective use of the council's funds.
