No sooner + auxiliary verb + subject + main verb + than + clause Ex.: No sooner had I arrived home than the phone rang. Ex.: No sooner did I arrive home than the phone rang. As soon as + subject + verb + main clause Ex.: As soon as I arrived home, the phone rang. Main clause + as soon as + subject + verb Ex.: The phone rang as soon as I arrived home.
