When do we use compare with and compare to?

- We use "compare to" when it refers to the activity of describing the resemblances between unlike things.

Ex: My husband often compares me to a lion

- We use "compare with" when it refers to the act of examining two like things in order to discern their similarities or differences.

Ex: Compared with John's English, Marry's English is very good.
