averse (to): (adj) opposed (to); always used after a verb; Ex.: "The government was averse to any changes in their policies." adverse: (adj) negative, unpleasant, unfavorable; usually used before a noun; Ex.: "They succeeded in climbing the mountain in spite of the adverse weather conditions."
