We use HISTORIC to talk about a place, building in history, an event is very important and will be recorded in history. We use HISTORICAL to talk about something that connect to the study of history, events, people etc happened or existed in the past. You can practice "Historic and Historical" test in below link. http://englishteststore.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14432:historic-vs-historical-test&catid=508:effect-vs-affect-tests&Itemid=564

"Historic" refers to something important that happened in history. "Historical" refers to anything related to history. Ex.: A historic day/date/event/agreement (= important). A historical character ( = not fictional), novel (= based on history).
