why is this sentence true? "I know you hadn't seen me "I mean know is in the present form and see is padt perfect.could you explain about the verb of know? thanks.

I will put it this way, imagine we are brothers and we are in a cafe reminiscing good times. Then I tell you, remember when you stole those cookies from cookie jar? You said it was me even though I know you hadn't seen me steal them after we had dinner that night. In this case "I know" means that I remember what happened till today. other examples: -I know he closed the door and made sure the man hadn't seen him there. -I know Robert hand't seen a flying saucer before we went camping that weekend. in THIS CASE I know = I remember, I know the facts NOW.
