VSTEP B1, B2, C1 Speaking Part 2: Solution Discussion

- Question:

Your local council wants to make your area more environmentally friendly. Decide which way you would choose as being the best one to make your area greener. There are three options for you to choose: Recycle bins in public places, Plant trees, or Educate the people on the environment.

- Answer:

I would suggest educating people on the environment as the most effective way to make our area greener. While recycling bins and planting trees are both great initiatives, they are more immediate solutions and less likely to instill long-term, sustainable changes in behavior.

Recycling bins in public places encourage people to dispose of their waste responsibly, but they don't address the issue of excessive consumption. Planting trees can help absorb CO2, but it doesn't prevent further damage caused by human activities.

Education, on the other hand, can have a profound and lasting impact. By teaching people about the environment, they can understand the consequences of their actions and make informed decisions. They would be more likely to recycle and plant trees of their own accord, and they would also be more aware of their consumption habits.

Moreover, educated individuals can spread their knowledge to others, amplifying the impact. So, while all three options are valuable, I believe that education is the cornerstone of any long-term environmental strategy.
