VSTEP B1, B2, C1 Speaking Part 2: Solution Discussion

- Question:

Your brother would like you to give him some advice on how to lose weight. Which do you think is the best choice? There are three options for you to choose: Skip meals, Use drugs, or Exercise regularly.

- Answer:

I would advise him to exercise regularly. Skipping meals can lead to nutritional deficiencies and may even cause weight gain in the long run due to metabolism disruptions. Using drugs can have negative side effects and, depending on the type of drug, could potentially lead to serious health risks, including heart problems. It's also not a sustainable solution for weight loss, as it doesn't teach healthy eating habits or encourage physical fitness.

On the other hand, regular exercise is a healthier and more sustainable approach to weight loss. It not only burns calories, but also improves overall health, boosts metabolism, and enhances mood. By incorporating exercise into his routine, my brother can lose weight in a way that supports his long-term health and wellbeing. Exercise is also adaptable, and can be tailored to individual abilities and preferences, making it a suitable choice for almost everyone. Therefore, in comparison to skipping meals or using drugs, regular exercise is the safest, most effective, and most sustainable approach to weight loss.
